Quiet Perkins engines power Supernova’s large generator sets
In 1985 Samir Mistry, saw a need in the Indian market for reliable diesel generator sets for both primary and back-up power applications. Today, some 60,000 generator sets later, the company he founded, Supernova Engineers Limited, is a leader in the Indian market and a significant competitor in the global power generation arena.
Supernova builds nearly 2,000 generator sets annually in two modern plants. The largest of those products, with ratings from 400 to 2500 kVA, are powered by Perkins engines.
“Our relationship with Perkins is a key element in the success of the larger generator sets that form a growing part of our business,” explained Supernova director, Dhruvish Mistry. “The large Perkins® 4000 Series engines, and the smaller 2000 Series both deliver important advantages for our large generator sets.”
Those advantages include high power density, fuel efficiency, reliability and excellent load characteristics. In addition, the Perkins engines are very quiet, which is important in many applications.
“We can build diesel generator sets up to 2250 kVA with noise levels less than 75 dba,” explained Darshin Desai, Supernova vice president HHP sales.
Quiet operation was a key decision point for the Zydus Hospital in Ahmedabad. They chose a Supernova 1500 kVA stand-by generator set powered by a Perkins® 4012-46TAG2A diesel engine for their sophisticated facility.
It also was a significant factor for the managers of the 27,400 m2 Kumar Pacific Mall in Pune. Supernova provided effective sound attenuation on a pair of 1500 kVA back-up generator sets powered by Perkins 4012-46TAG2A engines for the popular retail destination.
“When you add the outstanding support we receive from Perkins and their global distributor network, it’s easy to see why Supernova uses Perkins® 2000 and 4000 Series engines across our large generator set range,” Dhruvish added.
