Today, the Perkins® 5000 Series is a mainstay of its generator set offering, but the relationship goes back to 1992. Allam Marine’s head of engineering, Simon Woodward noted that: “The fourth engine that we built into a generator was a 4.136. So, it’s been ongoing for quite a long while.”
Many things have changed since 1992, but the performance and reliability Allam Marine expects from Perkins engines have not. The evolution of Perkins technology and design has allowed Allam Marine to consistently meet the exponential growth of its customer’s need for high performance and power.
The Perkins 5000 Series Allam Marine depends on today was specifically engineered for stand-by and prime power generation applications. The engines use high-end, state-of-the-art components and advanced technologies to deliver reliable, efficient and cost-effective electrical power for Allam Marine’s customers.
Among those advanced technologies is the ability to remotely monitor many aspects of engine performance via Perkins connectivity solutions. This capability is particularly important to Allam Marine’s larger customers like hospitals, refineries and data centres.
As Simon notes: “This allows anybody connected to that generator to look at the running hours and look at everything that’s happening with the engine.”
Because Allam Marine serves a global client base, local availability of service and maintenance resources is extremely important. The global network of Perkins authorised distributors and the presence of local dealers in nearly all areas is another reason Allam Marine chooses Perkins power for many of its applications.
“We’ve sold to well over 100 different countries, and knowing that Perkins is there to offer backup and support is brilliant. The distributor network is essential,” Simon said.
“I do see the relationship between Perkins and Allan Marine strengthening,” he continued. “I think it’s a relationship that is very successful, and long may it continue.”
