Argo Tractors relies on Perkins power for their new Landini Super.

Owned by the Italian Mora family, Argo Tractors supports South African agriculture with Landini tractors specialised for applications ranging from vineyards and orchards to high-horsepower row crop production. “We designed the Landini Super to be at the forefront in terms of innovation,” says Antonio Salvaterra, Argo Tractors marketing director. “We listened to our customers and included new functions to reach higher performance levels while improving the design with European style.”

The Landini Super is powered by a Perkins^® 1104D-44T engine which has proven its efficiency and reliability in thousands of agricultural applications in South Africa and around the world. Using advanced technologies to ensure a reliable and easy-to-maintain engine, Perkins engineered the 1104D-44T to be a smooth, quiet 4-litre powerhouse. It’s specifically designed for use in territories with EU Stage II/IIIA and U.S. EPA Tier 2/3 equivalent emission standards.

Challenges met

South African agriculture offers a range of conditions that challenge engine reliability. These include factors ranging from high levels of dust to temperature extremes along with varied terrain and the inconsistent availability of quality fuel.

Meeting sustainability goals as South Africa moves toward stricter emission standards offered an additional challenge to the Argo design team. Argo and Perkins collaborated to ensure that the 1104D-44T meets all of Argo’s ambitious goals while delivering excellent fuel efficiency.
