Today, some 60,000 generator sets later, Supernova has grown to be a leader in the domestic Indian market and a significant provider of reliable power in the global power generation arena.
Supernova generator sets are used by customers ranging from data centres to resort hotels plus hospitals, manufacturing plants, pharmaceutical laboratories, residential and commercial buildings, telecommunications facilities, space research organisations and many others. Their customer base covers virtually every aspect of the Indian economy and its global counterparts.
The company builds nearly 2,000 generator sets annually in plants located in Rajpur, near Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Silvassa in Maharashtra. The largest of those products, with ratings from 400 to 2500 kVA are powered by Perkins engines.
“Supernova embraces the latest technology with a focus on efficiency to produce the most cost-effective power solutions possible,” explained Supernova director, Dhruvish Mistry. “Our relationship with Perkins is a key element in the success of the larger generator sets that form a growing part of our business.”
The Zydus Hospital in Ahmedabad provides a good case in point. It’s a highly sophisticated facility equipped with advanced technologies for medical research, testing, investigation, and diagnostics – all of which require reliable continuous power.
Supernova supplied Zydus with a 1500 kVA stand-by generator set powered by a Perkins® 4012-46TAG2A diesel engine. The engine was chosen due to its better performance parameters and greater load acceptance.
“We can build diesel generator sets up to 2250 kVA with noise levels less than 75 dba,” explained Darshin Desai, Supernova vice president HHP sales. “That is very important to a customer like Zydus, of course, but also to many others.”
It was a significant point to the managers of the Kumar Pacific Mall in Pune when they selected Supernova to supply a pair of 1500 kVA back-up generators for the 27,400 m2 facility. Supernova was able to provide effective sound attenuation on a pair of generator sets powered by Perkins 4012-46TAG2A engines.
The installation also features auto synchronisation and load-sharing systems that support either single or dual operation. All in all, the installation has made Supernova a key contributor to the successful operation of one of Pune’s most popular retail destinations.
