In parts of the world where secure power can be difficult to maintain, telecommunications are even more important. Starkgen Generator, a global company that manufactures and distributes generator sets, plays a critical role in keeping people supplied with power.
Starkgen produces reliable diesel generator sets for customers in many countries, including areas in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia, CIS and South America. The company has recently begun to move into North American markets. Founded in 2017, Starkgen has quickly gained a strong reputation for meeting customer demands and producing quality generators. “Our design is unique. We are always pushing to reach maximum levels of performance and temperature levels,” says Starkgen founder, Dogukan Dincer. There’s a wide range of Starkgen customers because power needs vary throughout the world. Starkgen delivers everything from simple generator set installation to complex paralleling applications.
There are constant power outages in Mali, with roughly 10-to-12 hours of electric shortages each day. Because the country has no main power grid, telecom companies rely on Starkgen generators to supply non-stop power. Without service, the people of Mali would have issues with everything from education and healthcare to commerce and industry. Telecom companies are working with Starkgen to help alleviate problems, recently installing 139 Starkgen generators to power a mix of new and existing cell towers.
For telecom applications, fuel consumption is very important. Starkgen designed generator sets for telecom companies with extended fuel tanks of 1,000 litres, providing 24-hour power supplies.
The importance of the project is not lost on the people of Starkgen. “Our slogan is ‘The power of you,’” says Dincer. “We want to touch every corner of Mali to help. It’s important to us, and when we see our generators helping like this, it’s emotional for all of us.”
Starkgen designs generators with sound-attenuating enclosures to reduce noise for large urban areas. Because telecom companies needed something beyond a standard product, Starkgen configured these generators with a specialised base frame and control panel to meet their needs. This project was a massive undertaking that took 10 months to plan and execute.
Starkgen relies exclusively on Perkins for its premium line of generator sets, pointing to proven performance, convenient distribution and availability of spare parts. To keep businesses productive, generator sets need to work consistently. This project has been a success. After an initial installation of 139 generators, there are 230 more gen sets on the way to keep power running for telecom towers in Mali. As for Starkgen, following a rapid global expansion, the goal is to continue to grow. Dincer says, “We want to deliver consistent experience for customers everywhere.”
