Fujian Ronggong Environmental Protection Machinery Co., Ltd. was founded in China’s Fujian province in 2016 to develop, manufacture and market advanced equipment to support a range of environmental cleanup applications. To fulfil its mission as a national high-tech enterprise, Ronggong has invested in a series of workshops dedicated to different parts of the process, including blanking, forming, paint-spraying, welding and assembly of components and finished products.
One of their affiliates, Fujian Banyan Environmental Machinery Co. Ltd., is dedicated to the production of environmental sweeping and cleaning systems aimed primarily at urban markets. Their products are distributed to more than 40 countries and regions, which makes the availability of a global network of local support services a key requirement when selecting components for their equipment.
Their latest product, the RG-8240 multifunctional road sweeper, received EU CE certification in 2020 and was successfully exported to European markets. It is also being used in Singapore, Thailand and a number of other Southeast Asian markets.
The RG-8240 offers a unique combination of features including an articulated, air-conditioned panoramic glass cab, a stainless steel collection bin, and a ’ballest-less’ brush system that increases cleaning efficiency and extends brush life. Key functions including the walking drive, steering system, fan drive, brush drive and dust bin lift all use advanced hydraulic technologies.
RG-8240 sweepers are used to clean urban sidewalks and bike lanes, public squares, parks, sports venues, exhibition centres and many other locations. They are easily reconfigured to brush or push snow, spray water, apply landscaping chemicals, suck water from puddles and perform a variety of other functions.
“Road sweepers require high power and excellent fuel economy, so these criteria are key when determining the right engine supplier,” explained Ronggong deputy general manager, Songjie Xie. “After repeated investigation and comparison, Ronggong chose Perkins as its engine supplier for those reasons and also because of Perkins global distributor network.”
The RG-8240 is powered by a Perkins® 404D-22 engine. The four cylinder, 2.2 litre, naturally aspirated, indirect injection engine produces 38 kW and 143 Nm of torque. It meets China Nonroad Stage III, EU Stage IIIA and U.S. EPA Tier 4 Interim equivalent emissions standards.
“We depend on Sime Darby Elco Power for support throughout the entire process of designing, developing, testing, manufacturing and marketing our Perkins powered products,” added Songjie. “Their technical expertise is invaluable, and they supply ready-to-install engines and maintain a complete inventory of parts for all of the Perkins engines used in our products.
“They also are part of the global network of Perkins authorised distributors which supports our equipment wherever it is sold. And, as our success of Ronggong’s products continues to grow, that support network will become an increasingly important part of our ability to provide excellent products and services to global machine users.”
Songjie Xie, Ronggong deputy general manager
