Egholm A/S, a family-owned and run company, develops, produces and markets utility machines, built by craftsmen in Denmark. Their machines are located all over the world, and with a growing list of customers the compact Park Ranger 2150 is an excellent example of the reason why.
Everyone enjoys a perfectly manicured park, a freshly mowed green belt, or a well-maintained pathway but few give any thought to the specialised machines that make it all possible. Those responsible for the upkeep of those outdoor spaces, however, are acutely aware of the need for flexible, reliable equipment to efficiently handle all of the tasks required to keep outdoor areas clean and inviting all year round.
To a growing list of customers around the world, the machines they depend on are built by Egholm A/S of Lemvig, Denmark. With more than 6,000 machines in service worldwide, the compact Egholm Park Ranger 2150 is an excellent example of the reason why.
The Park Ranger 2150 is a compact, highly manoeuvrable, articulated, four-wheel drive machine designed specifically to meet the needs of both small and large cities. It’s a truly multi-functional machine that can be equipped with 19 different attachments to handle jobs ranging from grass mowing to snow removal, pavement sweeping, material handling and even hedge trimming. Front and rear attachments can be changed by one person in less than four minutes with no heavy lifting required.
The power to handle all of those tasks has been supplied by Perkins diesel engines for the last 10 years, and a recent upgrade to meet EU Stage V emission requirements continues the relationship. In collaboration with their authorised Perkins distributor BU Power Systems, Egholm chose the Perkins® 403J-11 to power the upgraded Park Ranger 2150.
“We have used Perkins diesel engines for our Park Ranger 2150 for more than 10 years and we are very pleased about this co-operation”, Lars Petersen, Egholm procurement manager said.
“With BU Power Systems, we have an experienced provider who is on hand to help with any issues around the engine and have supported us very well in the transition to the Stage V engine. The engine has proven to be very reliable which satisfies the expectations from our customers and minimises the loss of work hours.”
The 3-cylinder, 18.4 kW (24.7 hp) naturally aspirated 403J-11 is an ultra-compact, power-dense indirect injection engine that is particularly well-suited for equipment like the Park Ranger 2150. To take full advantage of the new engine’s enhanced performance, the machine upgrade also included a new hydrostat that was chosen to work efficiently with the new engine.
The combination of a power-dense engine and a performance-matched hydrostat allows the 403J-11 to operate at about 600 rpm less than the Stage IIIB engine it replaced while still delivering improved performance for the Park Ranger 2150. That not only yields greater energy efficiency, it also reduces noise and vibration to improve operator comfort and the overall user experience.
As Egholm characterises the new machine:
With the powerful 26 hp Stage V Perkins engine and four-wheel drive you always have the power and traction needed for your tasks. Furthermore, you have a utility machine which lives up to the emission standards of the future.
With the Park Ranger 2150, you only need one machine for all your different outdoor maintenance tasks.
