After a downturn in May, June sales of construction and earthmoving equipment in the UK were up by more than eight percent over 2022 levels according to the Construction Equipment Association (CEA).
Powered by strong sales of mini and midi excavators the industry’s second quarter 2023 sales were up by three percent over last year’s results.
The CEA reported that total machine sales of 19,600 units in the first half of 2023 which is more than seven percent ahead of 2022 results. Road rollers lead with a 37 percent increase, followed by wheeled loaders, telehandlers and mini/midi excavators with increases of 14, 10.5 and six percent respectively. The strongest sales were reported in Scotland and south east England both of which were around 30 percent ahead of 2022 levels.
