Small and mighty

Good things often come in small packages and the ASV RT-25 compact track loader is an excellent example. At just 48 inches wide it’s among the world’s most compact track loaders but that doesn’t mean it’s underpowered. A Perkins® 403J-17T, 25 hp, three-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine lets it power through tough jobs in the tightest spaces.

The ASV RT-25 is a favourite among landscapers due to its ability to work in small, tight spaces, and its turf friendly track system. It’s also frequently used by municipalities to keep walkways free of snow because its small width and lower weight make it the right size for sidewalks.

“ASV is all about making machines that do more in more places and that definitely applies to the RT-25,” said Steve Gatti, national accounts manager for ASV.

The Perkins 403J-17T is actually the second engine to power the RT-25. It replaced a 30 hp diesel when the loader was upgraded to meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards. The engine meets those standards with no aftertreatment.

“In testing, we saw that the performance of the turbocharged Perkins 403J-17T was similar to our previous 30 hp engine,” said Buck Storlie, ASV product line manager. “We were pleased with the engine, its performance and the support for our customer base.”
