ASV's RT-25 is among the world's most compact track loaders, featuring superior suspension, minimal ground pressure and maximum productivity. Having the powerful Perkins diesel engine allows operators to achieve maximum productivity by moving around quickly and digging and lifting more.
Size matters, but probably not in the way you think. When it comes to compact track loaders, as the name suggests small does have its advantages, but power is still important. The ASV RT-25 is among the world’s most compact track loaders and, thanks to the Perkins® 403J-17T, 25-horsepower, three-cylinder diesel engine with turbocharger, it’s also powerful.
At just 48” wide, the ASV RT-25 is a favourite among landscapers due to its ability to work in small, tight spaces, and for its smooth turf track that minimises the risk of damage to surfaces like yards, golf course greens and sidewalks. It’s also frequently used by municipalities to keep walkways free of snow for safety purposes, because its small width and lower weight make it the right size for sidewalks. But with the RT-25’s power, speed and size, it can perform in any number of jobs and can be used with virtually any frontal attachments or tools.
“ASV is all about making machines that do more in more places and that definitely applies to the RT-25,” said Steve Gatti, national sales manager for ASV.
It’s the kind of equipment that’s right in line with the mission of ASV. Headquartered in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, ASV is the original compact track loader manufacturer in the U.S. Since 1983, they’ve stayed true to their mission to design, engineer and build machines to not only be different but to be among the best.
Part of building the best is choosing the right collaborators, which is why ASV has been powering its equipment with Perkins engines for decades — with the ASV RT-25 being a prime example. In 2017, when the company needed to replace the engine in their smallest compact track loader to meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards, they turned to Perkins. The original 30-horsepower engine was quickly replaced with the Perkins 403J-17T, 25-horsepower engine. But don’t let the lower horsepower fool you. This machine can still power through tough jobs in the tightest spaces thanks to an added turbocharger.
“With the turbocharger, we thought Perkins had a really nice offering with that 25-horsepower,” said Buck Storlie, ASV project line manager. “In testing, we saw that the performance with the turbocharger was similar to what we had with our previous 30-horsepower engine. We were pleased with the engine, with its performance, with its price point and with the support for our customer base.”
Many who start out as RT-25 renters become RT-25 owners and for good reason. It not only delivers powerful performance in tight spaces, but it also delivers low maintenance, low operating costs and parts that stand the test of time.
Regular maintenance is painless with easily accessible filters under the machine. “Operators are able to perform maintenance without ripping their knuckles open or it being too tight to get the air filter off,” explained Steve.
Plus, because the Perkins engine already meets Tier 4 Final emission standards, no aftertreatment is required. “The standard exhaust system means standard maintenance,” Buck added. “No high-dollar parts for customers to worry about long term. And there’s a good number of Perkins dealers throughout North America, so there’s service available to anyone, anywhere.”
And because the RT-25 is built with genuine ASV parts that are tested and re-tested to deliver performance and reliability, owners can rest assured that this machine is in it for the long haul.
“We design our products for extreme performance and extreme applications,” Buck added.
As with all ASV machines, the RT-25 features a unique track design, all rubber track and undercarriage, fully suspended axles and the ability to perform in extreme operating temperatures.
Another benefit to the RT-25? Best-in-industry ride quality. You may not think a manufacturer would put much thought into operator comfort level of a 25-horsepower compact track loader — but ASV did just that.
The Perkins-powered ASV RT-25 compact track loader may be small, but it’s definitely mighty. It delivers more than its looks suggest, is easy to operate and can perform in small spaces other machines can’t. Good things really do come in small packages.
