A large-scale mining group mainly engaged in the exploration and development of gold, copper and zinc depends on Perkins prime power solutions to provide the energy it needs to undertake its work.
Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd. is a large-scale mining business focused on the extraction of gold, copper and other metals. The mining company operates across 24 provinces in China and in nine countries including Canada, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, South Africa, Congo (Kinshasa) and Peru.
Needing a reliable prime power source for its sites in Central Africa, Zijin Mining turned to Sumec’s generator sets for a solution. Fitted with Perkins® 4016-61TRG3 engines, the sets provide a prime power solution in the copper mine, enabling construction work to be carried out on time.
Selected for its reliable operation, the collaboration between Sumec and Perkins has proved to deliver for Zijin Mining, which has used the 4016 powered sets since May 2017. So far, Zijin Mining has purchased 18 Sumec generator sets, powered by Perkins 1800 kW engines
“The 16-cylinder Perkins® 4016 provides the versatility customers need in today’s power generation market,” says Vivian Ye, general sales manager at Lei Shing Hong Machinery, which supplies the engines to China based Sumec.
She continues: “The engine has proven reliability in prime and standby installations and is ideal for these types of large-scale power generation requirements. The 4016 range provides 1850-2500 kVA power output and we supply it with cooling systems for either tropical or temperate environments to meet the customer’s needs.
Vivian adds: “With this installation, the features on the 4016 engine match the technical requirements of Sumec’s generator set. Both Sumec and the customer, are very satisfied with the performance of this Perkins engine in the field.”
