Perkins will give visitors to Plantworx 2017 their first view of some of its latest diesel engines, exciting new ‘smart’ technology, plus expert demonstrations on how to keep engines in top running order. The company’s attendance at Plantworx demonstrates its ongoing commitment to the important construction sector and its many original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers.
Perkins will reinforce its commitment to the UK construction sector with a major presence at Plantworx, the UK’s largest live working construction event. Highlights from Perkins will be the UK debut of the new Perkins® Syncro 1.7, 2.2 and 3.6 litre engines and the expanded 9-18 litre industrial engine range.
Visitors to the event, which runs from June 6-8, 2017, at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in Leicestershire, will also learn about the popular new Perkins® My Engine App and the ground-breaking Perkins® Cap – a world first – which is now being tested in the field.
“Construction is one of our main sectors and the UK market one of the most important to us,” said Jaz Gill, Sales Director - Global OEMs. “Plantworx is the biggest construction show in Europe this year. We’ll be there to support our customers, talk about developments and promote Perkins engines to new customers.”
The Perkins stand will feature the Perkins Syncro range of compact engines, designed to deliver optimal, reliable performance for construction machines. Perkins Syncro electronic products, delivering from 29-100 kW of power and between 120-500 Nm torque, give OEMs great choice and flexibility for compact machine development, helping them take advantage of growth market opportunities.
“Our Perkins Syncro range is engineered to integrate perfectly with a wide range of equipment while delivering the right value and performance to support customers’ business growth,” said Jaz.
Construction equipment manufacturers can also benefit from Perkins proven performance and engine durability up to 597 kW, thanks to the expanded industrial engine range. “The addition of 9, 13, 15 and 18 litre engines more than doubles the power range previously offered by Perkins, extending it to 8.2-597 kW,” said Jaz.
On show will be the Perkins 1706J-E93TA, a 6 cylinder turbocharged and aftercooled unit with a power range of 250-340 kW, meeting EU Stage V emission standards. Jaz said: “This 9.3 litre engine is the ideal choice for hard-working construction applications, and has been validated to deliver optimal performance in the harshest working environments.”
Visitors to Plantworx can also see the new 18 litre 2086J-E18TA – at 597 kW the most powerful industrial engine produced by Perkins.
“With our extended engine range, construction OEMs can save themselves time and money by using just one supplier for all their engine needs, across their global machine line-up,” said Jaz.
Perkins will promote its remanufactured and replacement engine range – the industry’s most complete – by showing a 404D-22 replacement engine. Extending a construction machine’s productivity by replacing just its engine is said Aftermarket Director Michael Wright “good value for money and an environmentally friendly solution”.
Perkins recently launched a ‘new for old’ exchange offering for turbochargers, which is proving popular. “We offer a new turbocharger at a reduced cost to end-users who return their old units,” said Michael. “The new unit comes with full warranty. It’s an economical and practical way to ensure your turbocharger is always working correctly.”

The Perkins My Engine App, which gives users access to a huge amount of information about their engines, has also been enthusiastically received. Available free from Apple or Android app stores, it enables one person to look after any number of Perkins engines – all from a smart phone.
“To build on that, we’re launching the Perkins Cap in a few months,” Michael said. “This is a telematic device that replaces your oil filter cap and transfers live data to your Perkins My Engine App. Perkins will be the first engine maker to bring anything like this to market.”
The Perkins Cap will give users engine data such as stop-start and hours of use, making engine service schedules more precise. The device is currently undergoing field trials. Contact your local distributor to register your interest in the Perkins Cap when it becomes available.
“Our Aftermarket team will also be telling Plantworx visitors about the Perkins Platinum Protection extended warranty plan, which offers up to 10 years’ warranty on new and replacement engines,” said Michael. “We’ll also be displaying our Perkins Diesel Engine Oil, specifically formulated for our engines, which over the last year has been rolled out successfully around the world.
“Using Perkins Diesel Engine oil helps keep your Perkins engine running well, as does using genuine parts such as oil filters, which are your first line of defence against impurities that could cause costly damage.”
Perkins and its UK appointed distributor, DiPerk Power Solutions, will also be running demonstrations on the Perkins stand. Visitors will learn how to identify faults using hand-held diagnostic tools, understand how the new Perkins My Engine App can assist them in maintaining their engine and meet authorised Perkins engineers to learn more about their engine.
Come along to stand D2 to talk to our experts, inspect our engines and learn from live demonstrations – the schedule will be available before the show.
