OEM Off-Highway magazine reports that Caterpillar and CRH plc have joined together to speed up the development of off-highway trucks for the aggregate industry. The “electrification strategic agreement” between Caterpillar and CRH is the first in that industry.
The agreement is focused on accelerated development of Caterpillar’s 70 to 100 ton class battery powered trucks and charging solutions at a CRH site in North America. CRH will test and evaluate the Caterpillar units in real-world conditions and provide feedback on safety, performance, operational and compliance issues related to the aggregates industry.
CRH is working to deliver a 30 percent reduction in absolute carbon emissions by 2030 and striving to meet a net-zero business goal by 2050.
