U.S. rental market outperforms as Europe slows

The latest IPAF rental market report highlights mixed conditions across global rental markets, with the US continuing to outperform while growth in Europe slows. In 2025, the US mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) rental market grew by four percent to approximately $15.8 billion, supported by steady demand, fleet expansion, facilities management activity, and continued investment in data centre projects. Revenue growth of around five percent is forecast for 2026.

In contrast, the European market grew by two percent to €3.6 billion, with performance varying significantly by region. Spain, Italy and the Nordic countries reported stronger results, while Germany, France, the UK and the Netherlands faced more challenging conditions. The report also notes that fleet growth has slowed as rental companies focus on optimisation and replacement rather than expansion
