Plans have been filed for a major new data centre development in Charlton, South East London, that could deliver up to 180 MW of capacity across more than 70,000 square metres of data centre space according to Data Center Dynamics. Located on a former industrial site, the project is expected to benefit from a confirmed power connection, high-speed fibre infrastructure and proximity to key financial markets, factors that developers say make it well suited to support future digital growth.
The proposed development forms part of the wider Charlton Gateway project and represents a potential investment of around $1.4 billion. Developers are currently seeking a scoping opinion on environmental assessment requirements, with construction potentially beginning in 2027/28 and completion targeted for 2028/29.
The project is another example of ongoing investment in facilities that depend on reliable, resilient power solutions to support growing digital demand.
