A new tradition has taken root among Caterpillar group employees who work on the Perkins brand, and its growth is unprecedented. More than a mere fitness challenge, Marching On has become a testament to health and wellbeing within the wider organisation.
Close to Home
Marching On emerged from the minds of Wayne Bradley, James Batchelor & Sarah Doughty as a local initiative, urging people to momentarily detach from their workstations and embrace movement throughout the day. What started as a humble endeavour has blossomed into a cherished tradition that speaks volumes about the values at the core of the business.
Pioneering Steps
The inaugural challenge, "How Far Can You Go on Holiday?" in 2019, was an idea inspired by employee Adam Kilbon and was exclusive to Peterborough based employees. This early initiative set the stage, sowing the seeds of a tradition that would soon grow beyond local boundaries. Over the years, it evolved organically, fuelled by the shared commitment of the team.
Nurturing a Unique Culture
At the heart of Marching On lies more than just a challenge—it encapsulates a distinctive culture that prioritises the wellbeing of employees. It's a call to step away from the rigours of daily tasks, promoting a holistic approach that extends beyond physical activity.
Unity in Diversity
Marching On has become a unifying force, bringing together people from various departments, and fostering a sense of community that transcends professional boundaries. It's not just a challenge; it's a shared experience that unites individuals with a common goal—investing in their health and vitality.
Beyond Boundaries
The significance of Marching On within our business extends far beyond the physical act of movement. While public participation might not be in the cards, the impact of Marching On reverberates within the community. It's an internal affair, an affirmation of a dedication to the people who drive its success. Each step taken, every kilometre covered, contributes to a collective narrative of a company and brand invested in the health and happiness of its people.
Marching Forward
As the Marching On tradition continues to unfold, it paints a picture of a brand that not only values precision and innovation but places the well-being of its people at the forefront. It's not merely an event; it's a journey.
