Connectivity delivers real-time insights.
Powernews explores that latest announcement on Perkins’ collaboration with Trackunit, to combine connectivity, data, and engine expertise to boost customer productivity and boost field service efficiency. This collaboration will use predictive tools to deliver real-time insights to customers, increasing productivity in the field.
Perkins has entered into a Works With Trackunit programme to deliver enhanced fault code diagnostics and actionable engine insights its customers.
The new Perkins enhanced diagnostics app on Trackunit Marketplace will help tackle unplanned downtime and address key customer pain points through the delivery of:
- Real-time insights enabling faster issue response, resolution, and optimised maintenance
- Deeper fault code insights support accurate first-time fixes and proactive planning
- Smarter, connected workflows.
The recent collaboration supports Perkins-powered machine owners in tackling real-world challenges via the app, helping reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and manage the total cost of ownership over the engine’s lifetime.
OEMs, machine owners and rental companies will also have the option to consent to the addition of advanced condition monitoring via the Perkins app.
Making faster, more informed decisions
“Today, it’s not just about getting assets connected,” Matt Begler, senior manager digital operations support says. “It’s about driving value from those connections. We’re seeing a true ecosystem emerge — one that’s not just about equipment, but also the services that maximise its efficiency.”
With better visibility into engine health, owners can make faster, more informed decisions — translating into real savings and smoother day-to-day operations.
By combining Perkins’ advanced diagnostics with data that the customer consents to share with Perkins, the app can deliver recommendations for resolving issues leading to downtime before the issue is noticed in the field.
“That means faster troubleshooting, fewer delays, and higher first-time fix rates,” explains Matt. “It also frees up time for field teams to focus on proactive tasks, reducing reactive firefighting and supporting better workforce planning.”
Controlling operating costs
The collaboration between Perkins and Trackunit is designed to help machine owners stay ahead of issues, control operating costs, and get the most value out of their Perkins engines over the long term.
“This integration means Perkins customers will benefit from faster issue resolution, as advanced diagnostics enable service teams to pinpoint faults quickly and reduce costly unplanned downtime,” adds Matt. “It will also lead to more efficient service calls, with condition monitoring providing a single document that outlines key fault details, including likely required parts and areas to inspect.”
Matt continues: “Additionally, maintenance planning is optimised by leveraging existing engine data and insights to ensure a seamless flow of actionable data for proactive decision-making.”
Access the app now
“We want our customers see our power solutions as the best,” says Matt. “By working with Trackunit, we provide that service together. It ensures the customer can prove—not just say—they’re delivering uptime.”
By using the new and free to install Perkins enhanced diagnostics app, OEMs, machine owners and service teams can make more timely and informed decisions, ensuring faster resolutions and better overall equipment availability.
