Taking the Perkins Rental Support Programme to Australia

The Australian rental hire industry is one of the strongest construction equipment sectors in the Asia-Pacific region, largely thanks to ongoing infrastructure investment, mining activity, renewable energy projects and continued urban development.

To see this exciting industry first-hand, members of Perkins’ Aftermarket and Rental teams attended this year’s HIRE26 show, hosted by the Hire and Rental Industry Association (HRIA) in Sydney, Australia.

They were joined by Perkins distributor Allight, who has previously attended the show, and who sent team members from its new engine sales, aftermarket, project sales and rental teams.

HIRE26

HIRE26 brought together the full Australian rental ecosystem, with strong participation from major national providers including Coates, Kennards, and United Rentals alongside contractors such as John Holland, through to small family businesses. The event highlighted the scale and influence of these large rental companies, which are focused on maximising fleet uptime, improving returns, and simplifying service operations.

“The exhibition floor showcased global OEMs presenting the latest rental-ready equipment and fleet solutions, with a strong focus on durability, efficiency, and performance in high-utilisation environments,” said Diego Gutierrez, Perkins rental strategy manager.

Diego continued: “Sustainability remains an important but evolving priority for Australia’s large rental companies. The Australian market continues to face practical constraints, including the absence of strict emissions standards and therefore limited availability of compliant equipment. As a result, many operators are taking a pragmatic approach, exploring solutions such as drop in fuels like hydrotreated vegetable oil to support near-term progress while longer-term transitions develop.”

Perkins Rental Support Programme

The focus for HRIA at this year’s HIRE26 show was to highlight its renewed commitment on advocacy, safety and workforce capability while remaining focused on practical outcomes that drive growth in an increasingly complex commercial environment.

“Perkins is ready to answer the challenge of helping fleet owners win in rental by enabling them to ensure their Perkins powered fleets are rental ready to maximise their return on investment,” said Diego.

A key highlight of the show was the strong engagement between Perkins, Allight, and major rental customers through the introduction of the Perkins Rental Support Programme.

Diego continued: “One of the main objectives of our participation at this year’s show was to introduce the Perkins Rental Support Programme to large rental companies in Australia. General manager Brendan Murrin with Allight was instrumental in helping the team gain access to key personnel at Coates, United Rentals and Kennards.”

The programme was positively received by all with immediate adoption by fleet service managers from both Coates and United Rentals. Once fully adopted across both companies, key personnel will be able to use the Perkins® Rental HUB to find service and parts information essential to keep fleets up and running.

“The Perkins Rental HUB, offering streamlined access to parts, service information and training, demonstrates how we are evolving from traditional product support to integrated, value-added offerings that deliver superior customer experience,” added Diego.

“This approach reinforces our commitment to customer centricity, strengthening partnerships, accelerating adoption, and ultimately helping large rental fleets improve uptime and performance.”
