Powerhouse Diesel Generators picks Perkins® 2800 Series

Reliable electric power is the sine qua non of virtually every aspect of modern society and diesel generator sets are still the go-to solution when the grid doesn’t, or can’t, meet the need. That simple fact is one of the main reasons Powerhouse Diesel Generators (PDG) of Valdosta, Georgia, U.S., has grown to become one of the country’s largest providers of customer on site power solutions.

The need for reliable charging solutions for their customer’s rapidly expanding fleets of electric vehicles and equipment was the impetus for one of PDG’s recent development efforts. Working with their authorised Perkins distributor, Pathfinder Power Solutions, they chose the Perkins® 2800 Series as the standard engine for a line of portable generator sets aimed at that sector.

“Having the Perkins engine in our product lends credibility to us,” says Scott Tyler, PDG President, “but also there’s a peace of mind knowing that when we send [our machine] out there, it’s just going to work.”

Perkins 2800 Series engines feature an optimised power-to-weight ratio and customisable architecture making them versatile enough to fit the unique electric charging solutions that PDG was building for its customers. Optimised internal engineering also helps extend service intervals for oil changes and more.

Those features, plus Perkins reputation for quality and reliability, were key factors in PDG’s decision.

“We try to make everyone family,” Scott added, “and know that no matter what the situation is, no matter when it is, they can pick up the phone and call us.”

PDG’s dedication to customer service is mirrored by Pathfinder’s business philosophy.

“PDG is incredible to give their [customers] support,” said Pathfinder sales manager, Jeremy Smith, “but when they’re not able to, we’re a phone call away. I’m answering the call at 2:00 in the morning or 2:00 in the afternoon.”

That dedication has helped PDG’s customer support reach even greater heights and cemented a relationship that promises to keep the lights on, and the equipment charging, for many years to come.
