Keeping your engine the right side of the federal emissions laws

The U.S. has some of the most stringent federal laws relating to emissions anywhere in the world. We have developed our engines in response to these high current standards.

You need your engine to run in accordance with the federal laws that apply to machinery. We have taken the steps necessary to allow you to achieve this, while preserving the all-important power output from your engine.

All our engines are delivered complete with a standard warranty that covers the owner for the full costs of repairs if anything should go wrong within the first two years, or 3,000 hours of operation.

The stringent requirements of the federal emissions regulations require a step up from this level of cover, which is now available as standard on all engines purchased for use in the U.S. to offer additional peace of mind for operators.

Removing smog potential

The potential for persistent smog, especially but not exclusively caused by the build-up of pollutants in a hot setting, has galvanised the U.S. into leading the way in emissions reduction.

Within US territories, we will cover the engine for 3,000 hours – or for five years – whichever occurs first, after the date of delivery to the owner that operates the engine. This means that if an emissions-related part fails during any of the warranty periods, the part will be repaired or replaced at no cost to the operator. 

Exception in an emergency

Nor does the warranty stop there. Any Genuine Perkins affected part that is repaired or replaced under warranty is warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period.

During the term of this warranty, Perkins Engine Company Limited will provide, through a Perkins distributor or your Perkins dealer or other establishment authorised by it, the repair or replacement of any warranted part at no charge to the engine owner. There is an exception that in an emergency a customer can go to a non-Perkins distributor, but with one of the most comprehensive service and distribution networks in the industry, this is not likely to be needed.

Of course, the key to keeping your engine running as long and efficiently as possible is to keep to the suggested maintenance schedules and regimes for your engine.
