Perkins® Ecoplus filters are designed specifically for your Perkins engine to help maintain efficiency and maximise performance. Perfected over 20 years of continuous development, our complete range of filters feature proprietary technology that safeguards your engine and extends the lifetime of your investment. Perkins Ecoplus filters use an ‘element based’ design, which means they are significantly better for the environment. With no metal can or centre tube to dispose of, they require less materials, minimise waste after use and can be easily and cheaply incinerated or recycled.
Tighter tolerances plus higher temperatures and pressures in diesel fuel systems make clean fuel more important than ever. For example, wear from fuel contaminants is the primary cause of failure for fuel injectors, which can be very costly to replace. Even dirt and metal particles as small as five microns can damage key components, leading to increased fuel consumption, poor engine starting and improper idling. Ecoplus fuel filters ensure correct fuel flow levels are maintained, and at the same time protecting sensitive components from damage.
The Perkins® Ecoplus technology in these fuel filters uses an engineered filter element inside the metal canister. This element uses fibreglass spiral roving to hold the media in place to prevent the pleats from flexing. Reducing flexing and movement of the filter pleats improves particle retention and holding capacity. And the addition of spiral roving has also been shown to increase resistance to collapse.
This Ecoplus technology is widely used on fuel filters for our Perkins engines, inside the spin-on fuel filters for our latest generation 9-18 litre engines, also in the oil filters for our 904 Series.
Your machine is a significant investment. Genuine parts and filters are crucial to maintain its engine’s efficiency and manage ongoing operation costs. Using non-genuine filters may initially seem more economical. However, as little as a 3 percent higher fuel consumption through injector wear will soon outweigh the savings.
We tested Perkins fuel filter 4560996 against high quality competitor filter brands to compare injector life.
Test results showed all the competitors had significant leak paths form as a result of erosion due to a high level of contaminants getting through the filter.
These test results can be summarised in the average expected injector life.
