After a busy four days, the biannual bauma CHINA 2024 exhibition closed on November 29th. As an exhibition with extensive influence in the field of Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines and Construction Vehicles, bauma CHINA has become an important platform for leading companies in the industry to promote new products and the latest technologies. Due to the national and global importance of the exhibition, Perkins debuted a new 2600 Series 13-litre industrial diesel engine, among other products.
Choice of reliability and quality
Scheduled for production in 2026, the Perkins® 2600 Series is a new 13-litre diesel engine platform designed to achieve best-in-class power density, torque, and fuel efficiency for heavy-duty off-highway applications.
The engine variant designed for higher emissions regulations, such as China Nonroad Stage IV, offers eight power ratings from 340 to 515 kW with up to 3,200 Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, for specific applications and customers within China, a rating of 570 kW with up to 3,500 Nm of peak torque will also be made available, suited for China Nonroad Stage III emission standards. Additionally, its core architecture supports the future development of spark-ignited natural gas and hydrogen fuel capabilities.
The 2600 Series engine supports quality, reliability, and easier maintenance through numerous design enhancements, including the integration of components as well as a reduction in the number of leak joints. Together, the upgrades result in low fluid consumption and extended oil and fuel filter service intervals as long as 1,000 hours, reducing operating costs and downtime.
By modularising and eliminating components, the architecture of the 2600 Series is space-protected to accommodate configuration adjustments anticipated for future tiers of emission standards in the U.S. and EU without relocating customer connection points. The combination of the all-new rear gear train, stiffer core architecture, and common rail fuel system reduces noise when compared with Perkins's current 13-, 15- and single-turbo 18-litre engines.
Perkins also displayed three other engine series, including the Perkins® 2806J-E18TA, a powerful 18 litre, 6 cylinder inline engine which provides outstanding power density, low cost of installation and ownership. The 2806J is the ideal choice for hard-working construction applications such as large excavators and has been validated to deliver optimal performance in harsh working environments.
The Perkins® 1204J-E44TTA, a powerful 4 cylinder option, was also on show. The 1204J meets EU Stage V / U.S Tier 4 Final emissions standards and comes with a choice of engine configurations, while the robust technology allows machine manufacturers to integrate the 1204 range into their equipment with minimum re-engineering.
And finally, the Perkins® 904J-E36TA also attracted a lot of attention on the stand. The 904 Series engines offer a compact power solution for off-highway applications in construction, agriculture and industrial. The 4 cylinder engines deliver excellent performance in power, peak and low speed torque, fuel consumption and transient response.
Aftermarket products
After sales service is also important for customers, so Perkins displayed a range of aftermarket products including Perkins® 2000 Series overhaul kits, Perkins® Ecoplus fuel filtration and a range of common parts. Through a wide range of aftermarket products, Perkins will continue to support customers to get the best performance from their machines, for longer.
