Perkins is showcasing its hybrid-electric, mechanical and hydraulic power technologies alongside its new 0.5 to 18 litre EU Stage V engine range at Plantworx in Peterborough, UK from June 11-13, 2019.
The UK’s largest live working construction event, the bi-annual show is the perfect opportunity for Perkins to present its new hybrid technologies and they value they add to the UK’s original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as they prepare to design the next generation of off-highway construction machines.
“Construction is a critical market for us,” Jaz Gill, Perkins Vice President global sales, marketing, service and parts said. “Our customers appreciate and value the deep expertise we bring to their projects – thanks to our rich heritage over more than 85 years – on how to install and integrate our engines into their machines to maximise performance. “
“Following a significant investment in hybrid engines and electrification research, we find ourselves in an excellent technology leadership position to help our valued OEMs develop the machines of tomorrow,” Jaz continued.
With access to millions of hours of machine operating data, Perkins has identified that the operating cycles of real construction machines varies from one application to another, and as machine size increases. The duty cycles, operating conditions and packaging constraints for off-highway machines drive the need for specific configurations that are highly customised to the individual application.
To provide the close technical collaboration required to meet customers’ needs, Perkins has established a dedicated team – the Perkins Expanded Offering Product Team, led by Tom Carlill, new product introduction programme manager.
“There isn’t one solution that fits all machines, so we’re focused on establishing ourselves as an integrator with multiple hybrid and electric power technologies,” Tom said. “By working with us OEMs will achieve better project outcomes and deliver more productive, cost competitive and more relevant solutions for their markets. By sharing our advanced tool set, skilled team and excellent facilities OEMs will achieve these superior results quickly and at the lowest cost.”
At Plantworx, Perkins is highlighting three hybrid power solutions through three engines, all at 75 kW (100 hp). To demonstrate modularity and flexibility, all three hybrid solutions are based on the Perkins® Syncro 2.8 litre.
The three technologies on show are:
Perkins is offering hybrid and electric technologies across its Stage V power range from 8.2 to 597 kW (11 to 800 hp).
Perkins Stage V engines have been designed with OEMs profitability in mind. Offering market-leading power density our Stage V engines are quick and simple for OEM’s engineering teams to install, saving time and money at every stage.
At Stage V, uplift in power and torque performance across the 0.5 to 18 litre range has improved in three main ways. Power density – the amount of power you get from a particular package size, has increased by up to 28 percent. Torque meanwhile, has increased by up to 29 percent and significant fluid consumption – namely fuel and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) improvements, have also been made across the range. All of these mean that OEMs can downsize and reduce cost without compromising on performance.
At Plantworx Perkins is showcasing a range of engines that meet the new Stage V emission standards.
