Of all the engines that Perkins supplies to the rental sector, the 1.7 and 2.2 litre engines are a trusted favourite because the most popular equipment for rent – such as aerial equipment, light towers, welders, air compressors and generators – falls into its horsepower range.

Perkins is launching a new range of 1.7 and 2.2 litre electronic engines targeted at the specific requirements of the rental market.The Perkins Syncro 1.7 litre 3 cylinder turbocharged option, along with two 4 cylinder options, both 2.2 litre, one turbocharged and the other turbocharged and aftercooled. All engines meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards.

Designed for rental

A number of design features make the engines particularly suited to rental. They have a high-pressure fuel system, which gives a cleaner combustion burn. This means the engine doesn’t require a diesel particulate filter (DPF) or the addition of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). Instead the Perkins Syncro 1.7 and 2.2 litre engines use a simple diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) aftertreatment system, which is service free, meaning there’s no machine downtime.

It requires no regeneration or additional operator functionality, which means they can turn the machine on and get the job done.

Rental support programme

In North America, we offer our rental houses a Rental Support Programme, a unique support facility to get machines up and running – and back out for rent – as quickly as possible.
