Perkins repeats innovation feat at Rental Show

The annual Rental Show sponsored by the American Rental Association (ARA) gave Perkins an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to this important market. At the show, Perkins 404F-E22TA engine was awarded a prize for innovative products by the influential Rental Equipment Register (RER) magazine.

Perkins enjoyed a successful exhibition at the Rental Show 2016, buoyed by strong interest in our engines and an award for innovation from RER.

The annual showpiece of the ARA, the Rental Show gave us the opportunity to reinforce our position as the trusted choice for the global rental market.

The Perkins team was supported by a team from Perkins Pacific, one of our North American distributors.

Innovative product award

A highlight for Perkins was receiving the innovative product award in the Engines/Power Sourcing category from RER for the 404F-E22TA engine. This is a major achievement for us – and a repeat performance after the Perkins twin-turbo 1206F-E70TTA won last year.

“This is important for us, RER is widely read and is an important publication in the rental world.
Corey Berry, rental account manager

Back-to-back wins in this prestigious competition are a rare honour and recognise Perkins commitment to meeting the latest emissions standards with technologies that deliver operating efficiency and solid value in the rental industry.
David Nicoll, global marketing and dealer operations director

Limited to trade only

The Rental Show is well established within the equipment rental sector. This year marked the show’s 60th anniversary. The event in Atlanta from February 21-24 attracted more than 650 exhibitors from all over the world. Attendance is limited to trade only, with the result that everyone there is directly involved in the equipment rental industry.

Perkins used the exhibition to further its relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and to meet end users in the U.S. and global rental sector. With our experience in the whole range of rental markets all over the world, the Rental Show is an important chance to build on our understanding of each region’s opportunities and challenges.

Engines for the rental market

Our main goal at the show was to demonstrate our commitment to supporting the rental market by supplying engines for the machines that OEMs typically sell to rental companies.

The 400 Series is the most prominent Perkins engine in the rental market by nature of its size and the types of equipment that rental companies typically hold in stock, including lighting towers, air compressors, generators, welders, aerial work platforms and compact earth-moving equipment.

Perkins had 400, 850 and 1200 Series engines on display at the show.

Purchasing decisions

Corey said interest in our engines was “very high” and came from both rental companies and OEMs, most of whom had their equipment on display at the show. “It’s an important show for them because regional rental companies typically use it to make purchasing decisions,” said Corey. Feedback from OEMs was positive; they were selling equipment, he added.
