Career prospects

To increase my knowledge of the company so I know where my career path will take me. I hope to complete my apprenticeship at a high standard and go up through the ranks to becoming a well-respected manager at Perkins. Ive found that a quality manager on the vee assembly line for 4000 series engines would be the most enjoyable as a career so far.

My time spent at Perkins so far

Since starting I have been two days at college learning Level 2 City and Guilds and a Level 2 NVQ in engineering, which I’m thoroughly enjoying.  At Perkins I have been on working with the quality assurance department, the Vee Crankcase Machining and on the Assembly Line. There are still other departments I need to visit throughout the rest of the year and hope to gain as much knowledge as I can.

What made me apply at Perkins?

After secondary school I was still unsure of what I wanted to do for a career, but when working with my grandfather in his garage, which got me very interested in engineering and cars. From where I live in Stafford, Perkins is very local and is very convenient. One of the main points that grabbed my attention was to earn and learn. With all my friends going to University and would accumulate large amounts of debt, with this job I will not have any debt to worry about. So I grasped the opportunity to work for Perkins.
