Mud maid spotted at Peterborough Environmental Project

Thirteen volunteers from Perkins’ marketing communication services department put their creative talents to the test when they built a mud-maid at the Peterborough Environmental Project.

The 35-foot long, six-foot high sculpture was built out of mud and concrete, and then planted with ivy and a variety of grasses.

Marketing communication services manager Adrian Talbot said: “Over the years Perkins has supported many activities at the Peterborough Environmental Project, all of which my team has helped to promote. This was a great opportunity for us to do ‘our bit’ for the wildlife haven, and create something which will be enjoyed by visitors for years to come.“

Retired Perkins employee Brian Pearce, a long-time volunteer on the project which seeks to educate young people on environmental issues, was delighted with the finished sculpture.

“I’m so proud of Perkins for supporting this project. It’s amazing to see what can be achieved by a group of determined volunteers. The team worked through driving rain to produce an incredible sculpture – it’s unbelievable,” he said.
