Race to the finish line
A team of Perkins graduates were among 2,500 thousand women who took part in Peterborough’s Race for Life.
Perkins’ Becky Adams, Eleanor Woods, Emma Hankins, Tasha Tye, Sharon Davies and Freya Irvine descended on the picturesque surroundings of Ferry Meadows for the 5km race which raises thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.
Anna Watson, who was unable to race because of illness, supported the team.
“We decided to take part in the event because one in three women get cancer in their lifetime and by raising funds for Cancer Research; we can hopefully reduce this amount and increase survival,” said Becky.
She continued: “We also used the event to increase our own fitness levels and it was a fun, enjoyable event for the team of girls from Perkins to get involved in. The event went very well considering the incredible heat. All the girls completed the race whether it be running, jogging or walking in good time.”
The team, which received a donation of £300 from Perkins, hopes to have raised more than £650 for the charity.
Becky said: “All of us would like to send our thanks for the support from friends, family and colleagues. This is a really worth wild cause and we were amazed at the generosity shown. From the success of this year we do intend to take part next year but in fancy dress.”
