Perkins captures engine award at Intermat 2009
Diesel magazine, one of Europe’s leading industry titles, has crowned Perkins’ newly launched 1206E-E70TTA as its ‘Diesel of the Year 2009’. The seven litre, six cylinder model was given the accolade in recognition of its innovative technology, reliability and performance.
Editor Roberto Sommariva, speaking on the Perkins stand at the Intermat show in Paris, cited a number of winning factors including the use of innovative technologies such as the application of twin turbos to increase engine power density.
Presenting the winner’s plaque to Perkins’ president, Gwenne Henricks, he commented that the new engine was a worthy winner of the magazine’s award, now in its fourth year.
In reply Gwenne thanked Diesel magazine for the award and also congratulated the team at Perkins for developing the new engine, which marks a significant entry for the company into larger displacement and more powerful six-cylinder engines.
