The hair-raising efforts of Perkins' product support team has led to more than £970 being raised for Sue Ryder Care. Febru-Hairy activities support local hospice

The hair-raising efforts of Perkins' product support team has led to more than £970 being raised for Sue Ryder Care.

Dave Cumbridge, Keith Brown, Jon Cadman and Graham Cuthbert, decided to take part in Febru-Hairy, after reading about Sue Ryder Care fundraising activities in a company newsletter.

“We had all played around with growing beards in the past, so we thought it would be a fun way to raise some money for a very good cause,” said Dave.

Throughout the month, the beards grew longer, prompting reactions from family, friends and colleagues alike.

In a final push to boost their fundraising efforts, the team decided to dye their beards.

“Once we dyed the beards we seemed to fast forward in sponsorship collection. I think people really got into the spirit of it, although I got some really strange looks when I collected my children from school,” joked Dave.

The team’s efforts raised £976.06 for Sue Ryder Care. As Perkins' Charity of the Year, the company has matched the donation, meaning a terrific £1,952.12 for the local hospice.

Dave, Keith, Jon and Graham, who have all now removed their beards, thanked family and colleagues for their support and sponsorship throughout the challenge.
