A Peterborough policeman was the first to cross the finish line as more than 3,480 runners took to the city streets for the fourth Perkins Great Eastern Run.

Thousands of local residents turned out to cheer on the elite and amateur athletes along the 13.1 mile route, while a further 1,300 fun runners and school children took part in the 4km fun run.

First to complete the half marathon course was Peterborough’s Neil Addison, who finished in 67.5 minutes. Colchester Harriers’ Adrian Musset, who finished in 68.45 minutes, followed him home.

In the women’s race British international Jo Wilkinson completed the run in a fantastic 73.3 minutes – her third consecutive win in the Perkins Great Eastern Run.

Perkins’ sales and marketing director, Ennodio Ramos, who presented awards to winning athletes: “The popularity of the Perkins Great Eastern Run continues to grow, both within Peterborough and further afield. It was wonderful to see so many people taking part in the event, from professional runners to young families, all turning out to support a great community occasion.

“As well as bringing the community together, the Perkins Great Eastern Run also helps local charities raise much needed funds to support their ongoing activities.”
