Volunteers help transform environmental project
Perkins volunteers were blessed with blue skies and warm sunshine as they painted, repaired paths and modified a waterfall at the Peterborough Environmental Project.
Around 30 employees from the 6-cylinder product team were set a range of tasks, which required a creative mind, ingenuity, speed and bags of enthusiasm.
Among the jobs undertaken by the volunteers was the repair and extension of a 15 metre fence; painting the walls of three large buildings and the creation of a path to two seats which overlook the River Nene.
Retired Perkins employee Brian Pearce, a long-time volunteer on the project for the environmental education of the youngsters of Peterborough said he was “truly overwhelmed” with the team’s contribution to the project.
“What was achieved that day was nothing short of phenomenal! It is amazing what can be achieved when like-minded highly motivated individuals take on challenging tasks and work together as a team. Incredible! I would like to thank the Perkins Team from the bottom of my heart,” added Brian.
